Project #1: Modern teens VS context collapse online
We present ourselves differently in separate social groups. An important part of socialization is learning how to manage multiple identities. In her book, “It’s complicated”, danah boyd discuss why social media make this task more complex for teens. In the first video, I analyze her claims and respond to them. In a nutshell, my point is that media have many useful tools deploying which teens could avoid problems mentioned by boyd.
Project #2: Digital media and financial markets
Digital media affect many spheres of our society and a financial market is not an exception. In this video, I scrutinize different approaches to the explanation of the relation between digital media and financial markets. A popular notion is that digital media affect investor sentiments and thereby influence financial markets. After watching this video, you will learn why I prefer another explanation based on the dissemination of value-relevant info.
